Aqara has announced the UK launch of its Smart Lock U600, a slim smart lock designed for compatible British-style doors. The new model combines multiple unlocking options with smart-home connectivity, reflecting the growing demand for convenient, flexible and integrated access solutions.

Measuring 335 × 40.5 × 28 mm in its exterior panel, the U600 supports Apple Home Key, allowing users to unlock the door by tapping a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch against the lock. With Express Mode enabled, users can unlock without first opening an app or manually unlocking their device.

The lock also supports fingerprint recognition, PIN codes, Samsung Wallet Digital Home Key, the Aqara Home app and a traditional mechanical key. Users can create permanent or time-limited access permissions for family members, guests and other trusted visitors.

Designed for Connected Homes

The U600 supports Matter over Thread, enabling integration with compatible smart-home platforms including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings, subject to the required compatible controller and setup. It can also work with other Aqara devices to support home automations, such as activating lighting when residents return.

For practical everyday use, the exterior unit carries an IP65 weather-resistance rating. It also includes a USB-C emergency power connection for situations when the batteries are depleted, alongside mechanical key access as a backup.

The U600 highlights several important priorities in smart lock development: compatibility with local door configurations, multiple credential options, interoperability and reliable backup access.
