ASSA ABLOY Expands Entrance Control Portfolio with Gunnebo Acquisition

Acquisition adds speed gates, transit gates and security revolving doors to its access solutions portfolio

ASSA ABLOY has agreed to acquire Gunnebo Entrance Control, expanding its portfolio of physical entrance and pedestrian security technologies.

The agreement, announced on August 3 and reported by Security Buyer on August 28, covers Gunnebo Entrance Control's portfolio of speed gates, mass-transit gates and security revolving doors. The company has approximately 670 employees and manufacturing operations across Europe, the United States and Asia.

Gunnebo Entrance Control generated approximately €151 million in sales in 2025, according to ASSA ABLOY. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2026.

The acquisition reflects a broader development in the access control industry, where physical entrance systems are increasingly being considered alongside electronic credentials and access management technologies.

Rather than treating locks, readers, gates and entrance systems as separate product categories, security providers are increasingly looking at how these components work together across the entire access journey.

For global hardware manufacturers and buyers, this trend points toward growing demand for integrated, interoperable and scalable entrance solutions across commercial buildings, transportation infrastructure and other controlled environments.
