Now, with the advancement of the two major industry activities, this chaos is about to be resolved, and the industry is expected to enter an era of standardized and orderly development.On April 11th, the project was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, and the development of the industry standard for "Electronic Intelligent Locks" organized by the National Hardware Products Standardization Technical Committee was officially launched; on April 12th, the Lock Making Branch of the China Hardware Products Association led numerous leading enterprises in the industry to jointly launch preparations for the new term. The two major activities start with standards and organizational structures, and work together to establish industry barriers, clarify industry ownership, and lay the foundation for regulating industry development.
Chaos hinders industry development
Locks are the most representative traditional and modern products in the hardware industry. Speaking of its tradition, it is because the lock industry has a long history, which has gone through thousands of years since its birth. After the reform and opening up, lock products have gradually formed industrialization, with increasingly diverse varieties and powerful functions, continuously meeting the safety needs of consumers.The modernization of locks comes from the rapid development in recent years - with the takeoff of IT technology, the Internet, and big data, traditional locks have deeply integrated with intelligent technology, and with it, the emerging variety of intelligent locks has emerged and rapidly developed. Emerging categories have two main characteristics: firstly, they have a broad market and strong growth potential; secondly, they have a short birth time and relatively wild growth, which can easily cause market chaos.Since the emergence of intelligent lock products, due to their strong innovation and high degree of intelligence, their volume has rapidly increased, and a group of enterprises with high production and manufacturing levels and brands with certain market influence have been cultivated. But market chaos is also happening. Due to unclear industry ownership, lack of authoritative standards and regulations, and a mix of good and bad companies, the intelligent lock industry still faces disorderly competition and malicious price wars. This not only makes enterprises following regulation, bearing the intention of high-quality and long-term development hard to survive, but also makes consumers confused about the product itself, bringing great negative impacts to the industry. Industry enterprises generally reflect that this industry chaos has seriously hindered the development of the industry, and there is also a phenomenon of misleading the consumer market, which urgently needs to be addressed.
Authoritative standards are initiated to clarify industry ownership
In order to standardize the development of the intelligent lock industry, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China recently approved the establishment of the "Electronic Intelligent Lock" industry standard (plan number 2022-0917T-QB) in accordance with the "Notice on Issuing the Second Batch of Industry Standard Formulation, Revision, and Foreign Language Version Project Plan for 2022" issued by the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China. The project was commissioned to be organized and carried out by the National Hardware Products Standardization Technical Committee, Planned to be completed by 2024.
Zhang Dongli, Chairman of the China Hardware Products Association, believes that the project was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and entrusted to the National Hardware Products Standardization Technical Committee, marking a further clarification at the national level that lock products, including intelligent locks, belong to the manufacturing industry. At the same time, according to the division of labor in the manufacturing industry, they are classified as the hardware products industry. For many years, the intelligent lock industry has been plagued by a large number of institutions and complex components, which have greatly troubled the development and cognition of enterprises. However, the approval and initiation of this standard further clarifies the affiliation of intelligent locks and even lock products, which is conducive to streamlining the industry and orderly development.
After the approval of the industry standard "Electronic Intelligent Lock" project, the National Hardware Products Standardization Technical Committee immediately began to promote the work plan for the development of this standard, began the preliminary preparation work for the standard, consulted relevant domestic and foreign materials for careful analysis, and conducted research on the development status and market problems of China's electronic intelligent lock industry, fully understanding the current technical level and market development needs of the industry, Led the establishment of an industry standard drafting working group and held the first working meeting in Yantai on April 11th. At the meeting, the drafting group experts, in the spirit of being highly responsible for the industry and standards, and starting from the actual development needs of the industry, conducted in-depth and comprehensive discussions on the content of the "Electronic Intelligent Lock" standard chapter by chapter, and proposed modification suggestions for the draft.
Liu Runfeng, the full-time vice president of China Hardware Products Association and the secretary-general of the National Hardware Products Standardization Technical Committee, said that the formulation of the industry standard of Electronic Smart Lock should be scientific and rigorous, not only to ensure the safety of products, but also to ensure the progressiveness and forward-looking indicators. On the basis of reflecting the current development level of the industry, it should ensure and lead the high-quality development of smart lock products. The participating enterprises and experts will stand at the height of the industry, and strive to discuss and demonstrate this standard in a serious and detailed manner, ensuring that the formulation work is completed on time and with high quality.
Strengthen institutional construction and play a standardized and leading role
Organizational structure construction is also a powerful tool for regulating industry order and establishing a good industry ecosystem. The lock industry has undergone significant development and changes in recent years, especially with the emergence and iterative upgrading of intelligent lock products, which has given birth to a group of new enterprises, technologies, and models. Together with traditional enterprises, they are driving the development and growth of the industry. However, the new situation makes the original institutional setup unable to fully meet the current industry needs, and it is urgent to initiate a job change.
On April 12th, the first preparatory meeting for the change of the Lock Making Branch of the China Hardware Products Association was held in Yantai, during which a warm and thorough discussion was held on various matters related to the change of the Lock Making Branch.
Lv Jiying, the full-time vice chairman of the China Hardware Products Association, introduced the historical evolution of the branch and the various tasks that will be carried out in the next step. She proposed that the launch of the new job is conducive to selecting outstanding enterprises in the industry into the board of directors, making the branch more cohesive and influential, thereby better regulating the industry and doing a good job in service work. I hope to carry out the branch turnover work item by item, so that leading enterprises in the industry can take on industry responsibilities, do a good job in various preparations, and make contributions to guiding the positive and healthy development of the industry.
The transition work has received a positive response from key backbone enterprises in the industry. More than 20 key backbone entrepreneurs and representatives present actively spoke up, proposing suggestions for the next step of the branch's construction work. At the same time, they have shown great confidence and expectations for the future development of the branch and the promotion of various work.
